Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is QNEST?
QNEST (Queers Never Experiencing Shame and Trauma) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to create affirming group homes for LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homelessness.
-
Why is QNEST needed?
LGBTQIA+ youth are disproportionately represented among homeless youth, often because they have been rejected by their families. QNEST strives to provide the stability and support they need to complete high school and prepare for adulthood.
-
What makes QNEST different from a shelter?
QNEST is designed to be a home, not an emergency shelter. Youth will be able to live in a stable, affirming environment while finishing high school. Residents will receive housing, meals, case management, mental health support, life skills training, and educational support.
-
Has QNEST opened a home yet?
Not yet. We are currently raising funds to open our first home in Massachusetts. Please consider a donation.
-
Where can I find information on current shelters?
You can find information on our Get Help page or MA list of youth housing options.
-
Does QNEST offer programs now?
Yes. While fundraising for our first home, we offer peer support groups and community education programs. Please visit our events page to learn more.
-
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. QNEST is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
-
How can I help?
You can donate, volunteer, introduce us to potential supporters, host a fundraiser, or partner with QNEST. Please get in touch info@qnest.org
